GALAPAGOS FOR FAMILY

ITINERARY 6D/5N

DAY 1. - SANTA CRUZ – VISIT A LAVA TUNNEL – HORSEFRIENDS L

Welcome to Galapagos! Our guide will be waiting for us at the Baltra airport to take us to Santa Cruz. There we will make our first stop in the highlands where we will explore a lava tunnel that will allow us to understand how the "Enchanted islands" were formed. We will also see the famous giant tortoises in their natural state. After our lunch we will continue to the Horse Friends project there we will know the hard work done by a community group to protect the horses, these animals that were introduced by man have been badly seen, mistreated and even abandoned, now we try to reinstate them, abiding the rules of the Galapagos National Park; giving them a lot of care and affection, it will be a very charming experience. Later we will continue towards the south of the island to Puerto Ayora where our hotel is located.

DAY 2.- TRANSFER TO ISABELA – BREEDING CENTER – WETLANDS (CAMPING) B/L/D

We will sail in the morning to reach the magnificent town of Puerto Villamil to visit the flamingo lagoon and the important breeding of giant turtles with almost flattened carapaces. We will continue to our camping area, there we can enjoy a pleasant afternoon among games, laughter and an exquisite dinner.

This morning we can go on a fascinating snorkeling excursion to Cabo Rosa (The Tunnels) or a walk on the edge of the largest volcano in the Galapagos, the Sierra Negra.

Walk to the edge of the largest and most complete volcanic caldera of the archipelago, surrounded by guava trees that attract Darwin's finches, who accompany us along the way. See contrasting basaltic lava formationsby the coppery volcanic soil and a wonderful view of nearby islands, this is what awaits us at SIERRA NEGRA VOLCANO.

CABO ROSA is a labyrinth made up of arches and volcanic tunnels whose cusps emerge from the sea to be habitat for cacti, mangroves, blue-footed boobies, terns among other

species. Not to mention that portentous sea turtles travel in its transparent and calm waters. During the snorkeling we will be able to see schools of tropical fish, possibly sharks, rays and seahorses.

This afternoon we can relax on the beach or take surf lessons. Accommodation at the hotel of our choice in Puerto Villamil.

A small islet near Puerto Villamil, is the cradle of the "Dragons of Galapagos" (marine iguanas), sea lions, depending on the season, we can find on its shores seabirds such as blue footed boobies, pelicans and penguins. Snorkeling will be an activity that will fascinate you!

The options for the excursion can be:

  • In a small boat we will go around the coast to observe seabirds, we will arrive at a small pier, where we will disembark and walk on the islet while we see mainly marine iguanas. Then we will get to know the impressive marine world through snorkeling.
  • If we like water sports then we can do this kayak tour, we will cross the bay and border the coast of the Tintoreras islet, we will not be able to disembark on the islet but we will be able to snorkel.

In the afternoon we will take a public speed boat that will take us back to Santa Cruz Island, to Puerto Ayora where our hotel is located.
